Tridon Camshaft Sensor - Keeps your engine firing at the correct time. The cam sensor (also referred to as a cam angle sensor or cam position sensor works in unison with the crankshaft position sensor to determine the position of the camshaft in relation to the crankshaft. This info is transmitted to your ECU and then communicated to the injectors and ignition system so that the correct cylinders are firing at the correct time. Whilst the ECU is able to do all the clever calculations and literally operate your car, it relies on a myriad of switches and sensors to transmit all of the necessary information it requires in order to allow the ECU to do its job including oil pressure, fuel pressure, coolant temperature, A/C pressure, power steering pressure and even fuel temperature.
